"Houston, we have a problem!" The ever-popular phrase in almost every NASA related movie, Houston, the 4th largest US city that often plays the heroic role of carefully maneuvers a space shutter for making its landing safely, was threatened by the 3rd most intense hurricane in American history. A category 5 Hurricane Rita, which was more powerful than Katrina that devastated New Orleans few weeks ago, made its way furiously towards Houston and its southern Texas coastlines on Sep 22.

This unwelcome hurricane resulted in the biggest evacuation ever in Houston, 2.5 millions people evacuated the towns before the arrival of Rita, forming a traffic trail as long as 100 miles, gasoline supply ran short, nonperishable food and water were emptied from grocery shops in every neighborhood, and airport underwent toughest time to cope with the surge of people leaving the town in a short timeframe.

I was locked up in a hotel in Houston downtown, without much to do except heeding the emergency directive, I scribbled some short stories on my rather 'safe' experience during the course of the 3-day threat of hurricane.
