This is my second Away Day of the year. Rather than chasing after
the materialistic dream of being a millionaire (read my previous journey Amazing
Race), this time around a group of us typical city dwellers humbly rolled
up our sleeves to become one-day farmers.
Under a temperature of 35°Celsius on May 23, a hundred of us
embarked on a vital task of saving our planet Earth - a program jointly and
proudly organized by my company and PlayVillage. Yes, we went all the way green
that day with our minds, will and actions - bringing our own water bottles to
minimize the usage and disposal of pet bottles; enduring sunburns we received
from the blazing sun without regrets; disregarding the dirt and mud collected
on our expensive shirts and shoes; putting aside whiny complaints about getting
our hands dirty in performing a farmer’s tasks; and finally finding a new and
safer home for the threatened Rhizophora mangrove trees and migratory birds. |
